Ten Chapters Awarded Agriculture in the Classroom FFA Food for America Agricultural Literacy Grants
MADISON – Ten Wisconsin FFA chapters have been awarded $500 grants through Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom’s FFA Food for America Agricultural Literacy Grant program. These grants will provide financial support to FFA chapters with plans for executing and evaluating agriculture literacy activities as part of Wisconsin FFA’s Food for America program.
In 2023-24 school year, Wisconsin FFA chapters reported activities reaching over 133,665 Wisconsin K-12 students and community members. Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom and Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation are excited to support FFA members who are dedicated to our shared mission of increasing agricultural literacy across grades Pre-K through 12th grade through collaboration with educators, industry experts and volunteers.
"The Food for America program provides learning opportunities for students of all ages," said Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom Coordinator, Beth Schaefer. "FFA members develop activities and teach their fellow students, learning core skills in communication and project management. Participants enjoy learning from a peer, which is an incredibly powerful educational experience."

- Manawa FFA Chapter – "4K Agricultural Commodities"
- Glenwood City FFA Chapter – "Ag Facts While Farming in the Glen"
- Viroqua FFA Chapter – "National Ag Day"
- Argyle FFA Chapter – "Food for America"
- Clayton FFA Chapter - "Students Teaching Students to Grow"
- Athens FFA Chapter – "Food for America: Growing Our Understanding of Local Food in Our Lives"

Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom provides teachers and K-12 students with an understanding of how their food is produced. The program seeks to work within existing curricula to provide basic information on our nation's largest industry: agriculture. Agriculture in the Classroom is carried out by a network of local educators, volunteers and representatives from agricultural organizations and businesses. The goal of the program is to help students gain a greater awareness of the role of agriculture in the economy and society, so that they may become citizens who support wise agricultural policies. Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom is supported by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation.
