Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom offers an annual essay contest for fourth and fifth grade students. Each year the topic has specific lesson plans, activities and other resources that teachers and home school parents can use to teach about Wisconsin agriculture. The 2015-16 topic is “Tell us about making maple syrup in Wisconsin.” This year’s contest will be sponsored by InSight FS, We Energies and the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation.
The 2014-15 Essay Contest winner was Bryce Henning from Barron. The topic was “Why are bees important to Wisconsin agriculture?” A total of 2,863 Wisconsin students wrote essays for the competition sponsored by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation, InSight FS and We Energies.
